Congratulations to the Girls and Boys Varsity Swimming for their performance at the Monmouth County Swimming Championships, where 21 schools competed this past weekend at the Neptune Aquatic Center.
On the boy's side, sophomore, Charlie Rennard had an outstanding meet. His performance totaled 37 individual points, tying him for 2nd place for points scored at the meet. Rennard took 1st place in the 100 butterfly (52.65), 2nd place in the 200 freestyle (1:46.14), 8th place anchoring the 200 Freestyle Relay with a blazing 22.14 split, sharing the relay with fellow sophomore, Ryan Magee, and seniors, Gabriel Centurion and Claude Morales. Rennard, Magee, Centurion, and junior, Samuel Fertal also scored for RBC in the 200 Medley Relay. Rennard's stellar performance qualified him to compete at the New Jersey Meet of Champions at the end of the swimming season. “Since I transferred to Red Bank Catholic, I have been only able to swim in three dual meets. So, it felt good to be out there today,” Rennard said. “I like it a lot more (not being in lane four). I don’t like being in lane four because of the pressure (to win). I feel I swim a lot better when I’m not expected to win.”
The girl's swim team effort was led by junior, Charlotte Trentelage, and freshman, Olivia Wheeler. Trentalage took 4th place in the 200 Individual Medley (2:14.61) and 7th place in the 100 backstroke (1:03.70). Wheeler tied for 5th place in the 100 butterfly (1:03.26) and came in 7th place in the 50 freestyle. Junior, Kayla Deet, and sophomore, Stephanie Mahns also scored for the Caseys with Deet taking 14th in the 100 backstroke and Mahns securing 16th in the 100 breaststroke. The Casey ladies also scored in both the 200 and 400 freestyle relays, where RBC continues to hold the meet records set in 2014 for both of these events.
