As a sophomore, Red Bank Catholic High School girls tennis player Julie Moschella had a superb season.

She went a perfect 19-0 in dual play, highlighted by a victory in the Non-Public South A final, a match that the Caseys dropped to Pingry.

She also made it to the fourth round of the state singles tournament before bowing out in a tiebreaker match.

Even though her sophomore season alone was plenty to be proud of, Moschella wants more. She wants that state title.

“I would like to win states, honestly, or at least get to the semifinals or finals,” Moschella said. “I’m pretty confident that I’ll be competing with the top girls in the state. I’m hoping to win this time.”

Moschella already owns plenty of skill and high-pressure match experience, so she feels the key for her this season will be to never give up a point and never let one get away.

“Staying consistent and playing hard on every point is key,” Moschella said. “Fighting until the end. The match is never over even if you’re down.”

Despite her youth, Moschella was one of the top players in the Shore Conference, and even in the state. With another varsity season under her belt, Moschella could be poised to take a huge leap this season.

Moschella will return as first singles player for Red Bank Catholic. She'll be in the conversation for Player of the Year.
