RBC FRESHMAN SABINO PORTELLA SCORES UPSET AT WRESTLING REGIONS

Freshman Sabino Portella (160) became the Caseys’ first region champion since heavyweight Mike Conte in 1983. He is just the fourth region champion and third wrestler to win a region title in RBC history. Tom Seitz won two region titles in 1973 and 74 and won the 1974 108-pound state championship.

Portella, who was the No. 8 seed when the tournament began, was also named the tournament's most outstanding wrestler.
