MIDDLETOWN - They say wrestling can help a football player and vice versa.

Red Bank Catholic sophomore Sabino Portella is an example of that.

Portella, who last winter became Red Bank Catholic's first region wrestling champion since 1983 when he won the Region VI 160-pound championship, powered his way to three rushing touchdowns and 112 yards Friday night to help the Caseys, ranked No. 4 in the Asbury Park Press Shore Conference Top 10 and No. 18 in the USA TODAY NETWORK New Jersey Top 20, to a 35-20 win over Middletown North at Arnie Truex Stadium.

"You see some of the wrestling come into play, the bending and twisting, things I can't do,'' said Red Bank Catholic coach Mike Lange. "He's a balanced runner. He's got great balance, great vision.''
