The name Cate DeSousa is synonymous with running. The RBC senior from Oceanport has been capturing titles in multiple events since she began at Red Bank Catholic. This past weekend just might have been her crowning achievement. After finishing third in a high school cross country regionals event, leading all New Jersey runners with a time of 18:49.1, she was invited to Portland, Oregon to compete in the Nike Cross Nationals Girls Championship 5K where she competed against the very best in the country.
Cate placed 47th in a field of at least 195 runners. She led every other competitor from New Jersey and finished with a time of 18:06.7. Cate has recently signed with the University of Virginia where she will run as a freshman next fall. Her hard work and accomplishments during her time at Red Bank Catholic are unparalleled.
