The Red Bank Catholic High School Varsity Wrestling team competed in the District championship over the weekend. RBC will send 4 wrestlers to the Individual State Championship this weekend. Senior Sabino Portella won his 3rd region title battling injury and illness. His younger brother, Lorenzo, won his 2nd region title. This the second consecutive season that the two have reached the finals together.
Junior Noah Michaels finished in 3rd place for his first Atlantic City bid after reaching the regions the last two years. Senior Michael Palmieri reaches his first state tournament after his 3rd region appearance sophomore, and sophomore Frank Romeo finished 5th after a great tournament and junior Marco Conroy finished in 6th after a few great wins, including a 13-2 defeat of the #1 seed and favorite to win the weight.
In its second place finish at this tournament, the RBC Wrestling Team scored a team high number of points. Congrats to the wrestlers and coaching staff as they prepare for Regions.
